MiniConf is hosted by Code Chrysalis at Blink. This event will be focused on a series of 15 minute seminars that explore different topics in the fields of technology.

7:30pm - Introduction to Cryptography -- Beau Dobbin, student @CodeChrysalis

Cryptography keeps people from knowing your important passwords, reading your emails, or stealing digital products.
This introduction will be focused on some of the basics of cryptography.

7:50pm - Build Your Own "Hotdog / Not Hotdog" Model -- Leszek Rybicki, machine learning researcher @Cookpad

Using TensorFlow (, a framework for machine-learning, Leszek will guide you through building and training a deep learning convolutional model for detecting hotdogs

8:10pm - Why I'm learning to code as CEO -- Sam Davis, CEO @Amplified

This talk will focus on the organizational reasons of having a technically literate CEO.

8:30pm - "API's Coming out of Tokyo" -- Caven Cade Mitchell, developer evangelist @Rakuten

This presentation will be on some of the interesting APIs being developed out of Tokyo. It will include insights into small startup centered API's and large corporation API's such as ANA and MUFG.

--About the Speakers--
Beau Dobbin has worked in software development, English education, and audio engineering. He is interested in computer science education and building software that makes people's lives better.

Leszek Rybicki was born in Poland and got his data science and machine learning education in the university. After many adventures doing web weaving for food, Leszek landed in Cookpad R&D as a machine learning researcher specializing in image recognition and working on problems that straddle the border of the digital world and the organic.

Sam Davis Sam Davis is the CEO and co-founder of, a company that develops artificial intelligence to improve the lives of inventors, engineers, and IP professionals by democratizing access to patent information.

Caven Cade Mitchell is a tech evangelist and design & developer community organizer. He has a background as a full-stack engineer and is now an evangelist for Rakuten Inc. He has spent nearly 2 decades in various aspects of tech with the past 7 years working with startup and developer communities.
